Dan Manjovi
Founder, Artistic Director of DJM Studio
Dan Manjovi is the founder and Artistic Director of DJM Studio, which offers accessible and affordable professional-level training to singers and performing artists at all levels of professional development. Manjovi is an award-winning vocalist, pianist, actor, writer, and teacher. Dan’s theatre credits include Regional: Denver Center Theater Company, Arizona Theatre Company (Manny, Master Class), Oregon Cabaret Theatre (Buddy Toupee, Gunmetal Blues) among many others. Manjovi was honored to perform in a 2006 workshop of George Furth’s (Company, Merrily We Roll Along) final musical project The End (music by Doug Katsaros). Off-Broadway: 2016 Workshop and The York Theatre production (Aaron Jefferson Levi How To Be An American!).
As a writer, Dan’s music and arrangements have been featured in film, stage, and television. His song, “Somethin’s Comin’ My Way”, written at the request of Oscar-Nominated Director and Filmmaker Lee Daniels, was featured in the Academy Award-winning Lionsgate film Precious; his musical I Am, I Will, I Do premiered and was a standout hit at last summer’s New York Musical Festival, 2017 (NYMF, Playwrights Horizons). As a performer, Dan has appeared onstage in various concert venues with such diverse artists as Donna Summer, Elvis Costello, Nellie McKay, Patti Griffin, John Mayer, Michael Feinstein, and Grace Hightower. Discography: Manjovi produced, arranged, and recorded “Somethin’s Comin’ My Way” for the Precious soundtrack recording for the Universal-Interscope label. Solo albums: Dan Manjovi (2005), Woke Up This Morning (2008); his song “Things’ll Get Better” appears on the compilation CD United For The Ride (2009); his single, “There Is No One More Beautiful” was released in 2016. Manjovi is an annual favorite at New York City’s Bryant Park Piano In The Park Concert Series, and is a regular presence in New York’s top music venues, such as The Bitter End, The Carlyle Room, the Laurie Beechman Theatre. David Kenney, WBAI Radio, (Pacifica) says of Dan’s work"…Wonderful songs, wonderful sound, and a voice that is so rich, expressive and powerful." Dan is a multiple ASCAP Popular Award Winner, and a recipient of Backstage Newspaper’s Bistro Award for Outstanding Singer/Instrumentalist.
Manjovi holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from New York University, did post-graduate work at The Julliard School, and trained as an actor at Ensemble Studio Theatre. He is also a protégé of renowned voice teacher Katie Agresta, and Kennedy Center Award-winning jazz pianist Joanne Brackeeen. As an educator of voice and vocal performance, Dan served on the faculty at The Neighborhood Playhouse, and HB Studio in New York City for over fifteen years.
Manjovi’s wide range of experience in the performing arts serves and informs his teaching philosophy and methodology, focusing on building a proper foundation of vocal technique, strength, and coordination, and working with the performer holistically to bring out their creative and artistic best. As owner and of DJM-Studio, Dan teaches weekly group Vocal and Performance Technique classes, hosts a Monthly Open Mic, and maintains a busy private studio practice. DJM-Studio also offers a new Essential Acting class, taught by renowned New York director Christopher Scott.

Christopher Scott
Chris has been in the in the New York City theatre industry for over 20 years and is a graduate of the Boston Conservatory. He has vast experience as an actor and director, including his association with master teacher Michael Howard. After beginning as an acting student in Mr. Howard’s prestigious scene study class he worked as assistant for his class and also served on Mr. Howard’s faculty.
Starting as an actor Christopher appeared On and Off – Broadway, regionally and on Television. He appeared on the 1990 Tony Awards where he performed the part of “Lon” while he was appearing in the Broadway production of MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS. He performed over 1,000 performances as “The Boy” in THE FANTASTICKS! the world’s longest running musical (Sullivan Street). He appeared in leading roles in major New York Off-Broadway revivals of BENT and THE TWILIGHT OF THE GOLDS. Off- Broadway he also appeared in THE CHOSEN, JEKYLL AND HYDE, PETS! AND THE BODY SHOP. He also worked at The George Street Playhouse, The Goodspeed Opera House, St. Michael’s Playhouse in productions of a CONNECTICUT YANKEE…, THE COMPLETE WORKS OF WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE ABRIDGED, THE LADY’S NOT FOR BURNING and MURDER ON THE NILE. He has also had the Honor of being directed by Ginger Rodger’s in a Pre-Broadway Production of BABES IN ARMS.
As a director of both plays and musicals he most recently had the pleasure of working with Dan Manjovi directing his musical I AM, I WILL, I DO at NYMF and served as Artistic Director for Masterworks Theatre Company, whose inaugural Off- Broadway production of THE GLASS MENAGERIE was nominated for an AUDELCO Award.
Currently a member of the Playwright Directors Workshop at the legendary Actor’s Studio where he has been developing a new play about Claude Monet by playwright Lanie Robertson (author of Broadway's LADY DAY AT EMERSON'S BAR AND GRILL) called THE GARDNER. He has directed many Off-Broadway Productions. Most recently A CLASS ACT (New World Stages), EDWIN: THE STORY OF EDWIN BOOTH (St. Clement’s) , the Off- Broadway hit GOLF:THE MUSICAL (The John Houseman), FOR LOVERS ONLY, GREED: A MUSICAL FOR OUR TIMES (both at New World Stages), THE BIG BANG (The Douglas Fairbanks) TAILS, and NANCY FRIDAY’S MY SECRET GARDEN (both at The 45th st/ Davenport) which he not only directed but also adapted from her ground-breaking bestseller about women’s sexual fantasies for the stage with Miss Friday. As part of The First Irish Festival 2013 he directed THE MORONS (nominated for a jury award as Best Director); YEARS OF SKY at 59E59; FringeNYC: BEST NIGHT EVER and SITTING SHIVA. At The Actors Studio he directed A MOTHER’S LOVE, BLINDSIDED and MURDER AT THE BARNBURNERS for their New Play Festival. Other NYC shows include LORENZO at NYMF; DAVID AND IRA for Scripts Up. For many seasons Christopher worked as Director for Theatreworks/USA, including working with Mary Rogers on the musical adaptation of her book FREAKY FRIDAY and JEKYLL AND HYDE (written by the creators of “Friend’s”). His productions which have toured the country playing The Kennedy Center in DC, The Promenade Theatre and Town Hall in NYC, the Fox in Atlanta. He has also directed at Maltz Jupiter Theater and The Meadowbrook Theatre.
He is currently at Baruch College/CUNY where he teaches in the fine and performing arts department. He has directed A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM, BLOOD WEDDING, SUDDENLY LAST SUMMER, LYSISTRATA, THE MOTHERF**KER WITH THE HAT and IN THE BLOOD at Baruch. For the B-PAC and The Joel Segal Great Works Reading Series ANTIGONE (Sophocles and Anhouil) , HEDDA GABLER, MEDEA, OEDIPUS REX, MISS JULIE, ENDGAME and ZOO STORY that brings in professional performances of classic plays in accessible productions to supplement the literature curriculum to Baruch’s culturally diverse student population.
Christopher is Artistic Associate with AMAS Musical Theatre, founded by Rosetta Lenoire. Amas Musical Theatre, Inc. is a non-profit, multi-cultural theatrical organization dedicated to bringing people of all cultures and backgrounds together through the performing arts. He has directed over 20 productions for Amas including The 30th Anniversary production of THE ME NOBODY KNOWS.
Christopher has served on the faculty at NYU’s/Collaborative Arts Project (CAP21) Studio for many years, where he worked on productions that included BERLIN TO BROADWAY WITH KURT WEILL and THE WORLD GOES ROUND.
Christopher has been a longtime associate of The Broadway Kids. He directed and conceived the original Off-Broadway production based on their top selling recordings. Through his work with The Broadway Kids he worked on KathiLee: We Need A Little Christmas, her Christmas special for CBS as well as The NBA All-STAR GAME for NBC at Madison Square Garden. He also helped Choreograph the opening of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
He has had the pleasure of working with actors such as Jesse Eisenberg, Jenna Ushkowitz, Andrea Bowen, Christy Carlson Romano, Eden Riegel, Joel Grey and Saundra Santiago.
